Four years later, in order to harmonize with the international title \u201cAeroclub\u201d, it was renamed \u201cAEROCLUB OF THESSALONIKI\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In April 1931 it was published <strong>the first in Greece<\/strong> aviation and air sports magazine &quot;TA FTERA&quot;, which is a remarkable publication with a wealth of aviation topics and elegance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1937, the \u201cThessaloniki Gliding School\u201d was founded, which had 2 training gliders and trained dozens of members of the Flying Club, achieving impressive performances and successes in the Panhellenic Air Games of 1938. For this reason, the Flying Club\u2019s Gliding Team was established. <strong>honorary heads<\/strong> of the other flying clubs in the grand parade that followed in the city of Athens.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the early 1950s, the Aeroclub&#039;s first activities in the field of aeromodelling and gliding began.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1957, the air sports demonstrations\/competitions of 28 air sportsmen\/modellers were held with the participation of the aero modellers of Athens and constituted an important event for our city of Thessaloniki.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the late 1960s, they were acquired <strong>the first 3 used airplanes<\/strong> PIPER \u2013 L18 and the flying activities of the Aeroclub begin in their entirety.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1970, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/en\/scholi-cheiriston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Leisure<\/strong><\/u><\/a> Private Aircraft Pilot Training, from which, to date, they have graduated <strong>more than 500 operators,<\/strong> many of whom are currently pursuing careers in the largest Civil Aviation companies.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1972 the Aeroclub had 12 new <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/en\/stolos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>airplanes<\/strong><\/u><\/a> and becomes <strong>one of the largest flying clubs in SE Europe.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the decade 1970-1979, the Aeroclub&#039;s aerosports team took part in <strong>7<\/strong> official air races (1 <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Balkan_Aerorally_1979.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Balkan<\/strong><\/u><\/a> in Romania, 2 panhellenic and 4 local) with <strong>130 <\/strong>its pilots\/aerobics and <strong>11<\/strong> trainers, while also organizing <strong>5<\/strong> races with exceptional success, also having the appropriate ground personnel (engineers, judges, observers, etc.).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1978, the aviation newspaper &quot;AERATHLITIKI ICHO&quot; was published, in 1988 the Newsletter &quot;EDO LGTS&quot; and in 1989 the newspaper &quot;AERATHLITISMOS&quot;.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1979, on the occasion of the Panhellenic Air Games, a mobile post office operated at Sedes airport, which marked the deposited correspondence throughout the duration of the games with a special commemorative stamp, which bore <strong>the emblem and title of the Aeroclub, <\/strong>as well as the indication \u201cPanhellenic Air Games A\/D Sedes 20 May 1979\u201d. Also, on the same day, the journalist and director of the newspaper \u201cHELLINIKOS VORRAS\u201d Mr. Nikolaos Mertzos, honoring the participating aeronauts in the Panhellenic Air Games, dedicated a special article entitled \u201cTHE KNIGHTS OF THE SKIES\u201d.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1980 they were completed <strong>50 years<\/strong> of the Aeroclub&#039;s strong and significant presence in the aviation, social and cultural events of our country. The State, appreciating this and in its honor, issued through ELTA. <u><a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Aeroclub_Stamp.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>commemorative stamp<\/strong><\/a><\/u> for the Thessaloniki Aeroclub.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the decade 1980-1989 the Aeroclub took part in <strong>17<\/strong> Games (2 Balkan, 9 Panhellenic and 6 local) with <strong>198<\/strong> Its pilots\/aerobics. The 13 of the above competitions were successfully organized by the Aeroclub itself, also providing the appropriate ground personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In the decade 1990-1999 the Aeroclub&#039;s aerosports team took part in <strong>22<\/strong> Air Games (1 world, 1 pan-European, 3 international, 12 pan-Hellenic and 5 local) with <strong>269<\/strong> Its pilots\/aerobics. The Aeroclub successfully organized, as always, 14 of these competitions, also providing the appropriate ground personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Also, in the decade 1990-1999, the Aeroathletes of the Aeroclub took part in <strong>3<\/strong> International Aerorally in Cyprus, Skiathos (with the participation of the Bolzano Aeroclub) and the Aegean, reaching Megisti (Kastelorizo).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1990 the Parachuting department began its operation, in 1993 the Paragliding department (par five) and in 1998 the <u><strong>Glider pilots<\/strong><\/u> (eagles), which organize competitions every year with the participation of dozens of aerial athletes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Between 13 and 21\/9\/1997, the first competitions were held in Antalya, Turkey, under the supervision of the FAI. <strong>World General Aviation Games.<\/strong> Greece participated with 10 pilots\/aerobics, <strong>5 of whom were champions of the Thessaloniki Aeroclub.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1998, the Thessaloniki Aeroclub was recognized, by decision of the General Secretariat of Sports, as<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/AthleticClub_Cert.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Sports Club<\/u><\/a> <\/strong>and is included in it.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 1999 they took part in the Pan-European Air Games in Ravenna, Italy. <strong>3\u00a0 <\/strong>pilots\/champions of the Aeroclub.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">During the years 2000-2006, <strong>253<\/strong> pilots\/aeroathletes of the Aeroclub took part in <strong>21<\/strong> Aerorally air races (2 world ones in Spain and France, 1 pan-European one in Ravenna, 2 international ones in Israel and the Aegean based at Santorini Airport and 16 pan-Hellenic ones), of which one was for helicopters. 6 of them were organized by the Aeroclub, providing the corresponding ground personnel.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">In 2012, the Thessaloniki Aeroclub was recognized as <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/HistoricSoc_Cert.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Historical Association!<\/strong><\/u><\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">Since 1970, the \u201cPrivate Aircraft Pilot Training School\u201d (PATA) has been training pilots\/aero athletes in accordance with National Legislation, while, from 2005 onwards, in accordance with the international training standards of the JAA (Joint Aviation Authorities) and, from 2015 onwards, in accordance with the European training standards of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.easa.europa.eu\/document-library\/regulations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>EASA<\/strong><\/u><\/a> (European Aviation Safety Agency) and the European Regulations (EC) No 216\/2008 and (EU) No 1178\/2011, with the <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/en\/stolos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>fleet<\/strong><\/u><\/a> to number 5 Cessna airplanes. The excellent training of the aeronauts of the Aeroclub enables them to carry out, with its airplanes, every year and safely, long educational trips throughout Greece and abroad, such as to the Aegean islands, Italy, Austria, Bulgaria, Romania, Tunisia, Malta, Egypt, Turkey, etc.<\/span><br \/>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">The Aeroclub is an open <strong>Aerobatic Club<\/strong> and it can be done <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/Member_Application_Gr.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>member<\/strong><\/u><\/a> <\/span><em><span style=\"font-size: 12px;\">(right click and \u201cSave link as\u2026\u201d)<\/span><\/em><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"> of anyone who wishes, as long as they are over 18 years old.<br \/>Today it has over 250 active members, among them many distinguished members of our city&#039;s society, such as University Professors, Doctors, Lawyers, Engineers, Architects, Armed Forces and Security Forces Officers, Judges, Civil Servants, Businessmen, distinguished Artists, as well as craftsmen, workers, farmers, etc., all with one common characteristic, <strong>their love for Aviation and the Aviation idea.<\/strong> Among them, approximately 10% are women.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>For years, with the authorization of the Hellenic Aerosports Federation \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elao.gr\/web\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>EL.A.O.<\/strong><\/u><\/a>, the Thessaloniki Aeroclub organizes with great success local, national and international Air Races.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>Continuing the tradition of the successes of the pre-war Windsurfers, its pilots\/aeroathletes take part in many air rallies in Greece and abroad, with significant <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/rally2006.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>first<\/strong><\/u><\/a> successes.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>In each international competition of our National Team, 1-2 crews successfully participate, while, in the Panhellenic Games, the Flying Club always has many first prizes.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/>The planes and pilots of the Aeroclub offered and continue to offer a rich <strong>social work, by engaging young people in useful and beneficial activities, with flights to search and locate missing persons, monitoring our seas for pollution and, of course, our forests for fire protection.<\/strong><br \/>\u00a0<br \/>For its multiple contributions and activities, the Aeroclub has been honored repeatedly by the State, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/AcademyAward.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Academy of Athens<\/strong><\/u><\/a>, the <u><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/FAI_award.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">International Aeronautical Federation<\/a><\/strong><\/u> (FAI), the Air Force, the Region of Central Macedonia, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aeroclub-tsl.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/FireBrigade_Diploma.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u><strong>Fire Department<\/strong><\/u><\/a>, Rotary, etc.<br \/>\u00a0<br \/><strong>Christos Gr.
